Today the farm stand I visited got in pickling cucumbers. Hmmm ... that sounds like a lot of fun.<br />So tonight I will be researching pickle-making directions (and hoping it's not too complicated and we have all that we need!) and hopefully some pickles will be coming soon!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/5826598202199348701-1864855578054584088?l=ourhandmadehome.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Brandienoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5826598202199348701.post-33143934754797150542009-07-07T02:27:00.005-05:002009-07-07T02:40:44.426-05:00We are a family on a quest to make what we need when possible.<br />We reside in the suburbs of Chicago, with a relatively small yard.<br /><br />What that means is:<br />No, we won't be raising sheep to get my own wool, but I might knit what we need.<br />No, we won't be growing our own wheat to grind in order to bake with, but we will bake as much as we can.<br />No, we won't be cutting down trees and cutting our own wood should a need for wood come up (although my husband did chop up logs at a farm recently for us to put into our little fire pit!)<br />No, we won't stop shopping at grocery stores.<br />No, we won't be walking away from technology either!<br />No, we won't be making everything.<br />No, this is not an experiment to pretend like we live in the 1600's (although I must admit, I'd be on board for that kind of experiment too.
